Top seed Niels Vink and second seed Kyu-Seung Kim will contest Friday’s quad singles final at the French Riviera Open, part of the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour, with Gordon Reid, Takuya Miki Martin de la Puente and Jef Vandorpe lining up in the men’s singles semifinals.

World No. 6 Vink, also the current wold No.1 junior boys’ player, beat Brit James Shaw 6-2 6-1 as the 16-year-old Dutchman remained firmly on course in his bid for a second qad singles title in France in as many weeks.

Last week’s Open de L’Ile de Re champion now takes on Asian Para Games gold medallist Kim for just the second time after Kim was awarded a walkover ahead of his scheduled semifinal against Mika Ishikawa. Vink won his first career meeting with Kim in the quarterfinals of June’s Orlen Polish Open 7-6(4) 6-1.

Reid heads men’s singles semifinalists

World No. 7 Reid movedto within one match win of reaching the French Riviera Open men’s singles final for the third successive year after beating fifth seed and his doubles partner Daniel Caverzaschi 6-2 6-1.

Defending champion Reid’s semifinal opponent will be fourth seed Vandorpe, who beat eighth seed Laurent Giammartini 6-1 6-1 in their first career meeting.

Third seed Martin de la Puente maintains hopes of Spanish title success after defeating Martin Legner 6-4 6-1 in what was another first career meeting.

Meanwhile, second seed Takuya Miki emulated Reid by following up his opening 6-0 6-0 victory at the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy by also dropping just three games in the quarterfinals. Miki beat sixth seed Gaetan Menguy 6-3 6-0 as the French challenge came to an end.

Doubles finalists set

Friday’s penultimate day of play in Biot will see the men’s, women’s and quad doubles titles all decided.

Reigning champions Caverzaschi and Reid booked their return to the men’s doubles final after beating veteran doubles partners and fourth seeds Tadeusz Kruszelnicki and Legner 6-3 7-5.

Nine-time Grand Slam champions Yui Kamiji and Jordanne Whiley, who both feature in Friday’s women’s singles semifinals, teamed up to reach the women’s doubles final, where the top seeds will play second seeds Hui Min Huang and Katharina Kruger.

Kamiji and Whiley booked their place in the final following a 6-2 6-3 win over Charlotte Famin and Polina Shakirova. Huang and Kruger brought Jiske Griffioen and Lauren Jones’s tournament to an end with a 6-2 6-2 semifinal victory.

Kim and Shaw won their quad doubles semifinal 6-2 6-2, the top seeds beating Ugur Altinel of Turkey and Sweden’s Petter Edstrom. Kim and Vink will therefore go head-to-head in two finals after Andreas Silvestrone partnered Vink to a 6-0 6-2 victory in their quad doubles semifinal.
